In 2021, Dehwa Construction began systematically introducing Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. This initiative stemmed from the team’s deep understanding gained through years of field experience—relying solely on 2D drawings during the design and construction of complex spaces often makes it difficult to effectively communicate and control 3D structures, frequently leading to construction misunderstandings and rework risks. Initially starting with just a few engineers building models, after two years of investment and refinement, a dedicated BIM team was officially established in 2023. The team gradually built standardized modeling workflows, component libraries, and internal training systems, launching the practical chapter of Dehwa Construction’s digital transformation.
Combining Refined Architecture with BIM: Tianmu Changyu Showcases Digital Transformation Results
In the high-end residential project “Lihwa Tianmu Changyu” in Beitou, Dehwa Construction fully leveraged the advantages of BIM technology. One of the project’s standout features is the curved staircase design in Building B, which involves a complex spatial structure and demands high construction precision. Traditional 2D drawings struggle to fully present the elevation and intersection relationships between various components, leaving field teams facing high communication costs and potential error risks.
Through BIM modeling, the team simulated the staircase structure and the exterior wall’s curved interface before construction began, identifying design conflicts and construction challenges in advance. The model was converted into a 3D visual communication tool, allowing site crews to clearly understand the positioning and construction methods for each component, thereby significantly enhancing site construction efficiency and accuracy.

A team member who participated in the project recalled: “In the past, relying only on 2D drawings, places like staircases or turns were very prone to errors. Everyone often had to cross-reference drawings while guessing dimensions. Now, through BIM models, you can instantly understand the staircase elevation and how to handle turning points at a glance. It’s also much easier to explain to site crews, resulting in virtually zero disputes.”
